Two Super Junior members to star in Taiwanese drama

Siwon and Donghae from boy band Super Junior will star in the Taiwanese drama “Extravagant Challenge.”
On Dec. 14, Siwon and Donghae touched down in Taiwan for the press conference of the drama “Extravagant Challenge” which will air in Taiwan for the first time on Dec. 18 on FTV. The drama is based on a Japanese manga “Skip Beat” and is a vengeful love story about a woman who sets out to become a celebrity to spite a former lover. The female lead will be played by Taiwanese actress Chen Yi-han.
The press conference was attended by cast members, the press and fans amounting to 1,000 in numbers. Actress Chen said, “I believe Siwon and Donghae’s popularity in Taiwan will help out the drama’s ratings.”
Donghae thanked fans for coming to the conference despite the rain and hoped for the success of the show.
“Through four months of filming, I’ve accumulated so many wonderful memories. I hope you will all like it,” said Siwon.
During the press conference, a video recording featuring congratulatory speeches made by other Super Junior members was also shown.
Of late, Siwon has gathered much attention for being the Korean celebrity with the most Twitter followers. As at Dec. 11, the singer-turned-actor had more than one million fans following him.

대만 드라마 `화려한 도전` 출연진 `최강 비주얼`티브이데일리 류치 전소희 기자] 그룹 슈퍼주니어 멤버 최시원과 동해가 주연을 맡은 대만 드라마 ‘화려한 도전’의 첫 방송을 앞두고 프로모션에 나섰다.
최시원과 동해는 지난 14일 타이완을 방문해 여주인공으로 호흡을 맞춘 배우 천이한(진의함) 등의 출연진들과 함께 타이베이 시먼팅에서 열린 홍보 활동에 참석했다.
비가 오는 날씨에도 불구하고 이날 현장에는 천 여명의 인파가 몰려 드라마가 방영되기 전부터 팬들의 뜨거운 관심을 반영했다.
동해는 궂은 날씨에도 찾아와준 팬들에게 감사의 인사를 전하며 이번 드라마가 좋은 성적을 거둘 수 있기를 희망했다. 최시원 역시 “4개월간 촬영하면서 많은 추억이 쌓였다. 여러분들이 많이 응원해주셨으면 좋겠다”고 소감을 전했다.
여주인공 천이한은 지난주 인기리에 종영한 드라마 ‘아가능불회애니’의 후속작으로 방영돼 시청률에 대한 부담이 없는지에 대해 “여러분들이 ‘화려한 도전’을 좋아해 주실 것으로 믿는다. 멋진 최시원과 동해가 분명 또 다른 시청자들을 모을 것”이라고 전했다.
또 이날 현장에서는 VCR을 통해 슈퍼주니어 멤버들의 축하와 응원의 메시지가 공개돼 눈길을 끌었다.
드라마 ‘화려한 도전’은 일본 만화 `스킵 비트`를 원작으로 하는 작품으로 여주인공이 복수를 목표로 연예계에 입문하면서 벌어지는 세 남녀의 갈등과 사랑을 그린다.
드라마는 오는 18일 타이완 FTV에서 첫 방송된다.
